Many thanks toquean_of_swords who held my hand, convinced me to keep going, proved her cheerleader mojo, and then helped me whip this puppy into shape. It wouldn't have been nearly as good without her help and support. Also, thanks to rotaryphones who created a lovely cover, working with the time frame of the piece (and forgoing her usual palette), and looking up appropriate images.
Summary: When Jack lands over a hundred years in the past from where he was aiming, he has some time to fill. Why not spend it baby-sitting the Rift?
